Silverton San Juan Volunteer Fire Department
Welcome to the departments website. We hope that
this will keep all of our members and the public informed of our day to day activitys. We will try to keep this updated
as often as possiable. With full time jobs and family it somtimes falls to the lower side of the priorty list. If you have suggestions
or ideas on ways to make this better please let us know. Always happy to hear new things.
The site will contain information
on training, meetings and general goings on that all of our firefighters need to keep up with. Check back often, as things change.
To all of the community members and the general public Thanks for your taking time to look in on us. We appericiate your support.

The Fireman's Prayer
When
I am called to duty, God...
Where
ever flames may rage..
Give me
strength to save some life...
Whatever
be it's age
Help
me embrace a little child...
Before
it is to late..
Or save an older person from..
The
horror of that fate..
Enable
me to be alert..
And
hear the weakest shout...
And quickly and efficiently to put the fireout...
I want to fill my calling and ..
To
give the best in me...
To gaurd every
neighbor
and protect his property...
And
if accouding to your will...
I have to give my life...
Please bless
with your protecting hand...
My children and my wife.
Supporting Our Troops. Be Safe And Thank You
We are an all volunteer fire department with a full roster of thirty members. We average with all calls between 125 and 150 calls
per year. We respond to fires, motor vehical, hazmat, wildland and when ever someone needs help. We are not
a medical transport department, we have a seperate transport association that handles that end. Although we do have emergency medical
tech's on the dept.
Our seasons here in the San Juan Mountains pose differant problems that we have to deal with. The Snow and
cold keep's one thinking about the problems they will encounter on a call in the winter. Summer is no snap with dry conditions, elevations
and what people just get themselves into.
We pride ourselves on being a community minded service organazation. We spend numerous
hours on community oriented events. Fourth Of July is our biggest event. Our Annaul water fight at the end of the parade and the biggest
fouth of July fireworks show on the western slope keeps us busy. The Christmas season is another time that we really enjoy. This
is a time when we get to catch up with old friends and the biggest honor of bringing Santa to town.
This is every little boys
dream, fighting fire and the first to tell Santa what you want for Christmas.
